What To Expect

I begin every tutoring session by gently guiding students through a three to five-minute body scan. This exercise involves the student engaging in deep, intentional breathing to regulate and relax the body while indirectly noticing thoughts, allowing emotions, and directly focusing attention on fully settling into the body and becoming fully present with both their internal and immediate external environments. Afterwards, we spend a couple of minutes discussing how they are feeling physically and emotionally before transitioning into the lesson. The benefit of doing this simple yet profoundly soothing and healing exercise is to help students establish an association with their academic studies that is emotionally, mentally, and physically healthier through forming a solid heart-mind-body connection.
